USASA Nationals

We left Wednesday April 23, 2008 for Greeley Colorado so the kids could attend their first Australian Shepherd Nationals through AKC. Both Ashley and Lynsey did very well. In AKC they are in different classes, and they were tough classes. Lynsey placed 3rd in her class, and Ashley placed 4th in her class. The 1st through 4th places received a nice rossett and trophy.

The weather turned bad and we were not able to head home Friday, because the two roads back to Utah were closed. We were able to attend 3 ASCA shows. In ASCA the girls are both in the 8-12 open classes. These classes had tough competion and are even harder than AKC. In ASCA the kids have to know all about the Australian Shepherd breed, the parts of the body, and not get between the Judge and their dog. They have to do patterns with their dog, and the Judge may move on them so they have to be aware of where the judge is and their dog. Ashley placed 1st all three shows and Lynsey placed 2nd two shows and third the last show. Ashley made it to the finals each time, and on the last show got a reserve, and won a very nice Kangaroo leather show lead to match her dog, they are $60. to $90. so she did well. They are in the youngest class that counts to go into the finals.

Thursday night we went to the Awards Banguet. Ashley was in the top 10 and won a very nice grooming brush. It has her name engraved on it. I had been wanting one but they were to much for me at $55. so it was nice Ashley won it. She also finished as the top Jr. in her age group and won a nice ski jacket with her name emborder on it, and the national symbol and it said Top Junior.
